When I hear the word &#8216;architecture&#8217;, the usual buildings spring to mind, such as churches or even <a title=\"Pop Up Architecture in London - Fallingwater\" href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=G1dZ4q_fzOw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">some private houses<\/a>. Pop-up theatres, cinemas and similars have been making an appearance in London over the past few years though.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>What do you think the reason\/s might be?<\/p>\n<p>For example, Folly for a Flyover, which was a pop-up cinema built using <a href=\"https:\/\/alondonerfromafar.co.uk\/sustainability-why-going-green\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reclaimed and donated materials<\/a>. The organisation Assemble built it up in one month, but it remained there for only six weeks. A <a title=\"Pop Up Architecture in London - Create festival\" href=\"www.createlondon.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">festival<\/a> took part there, who would have thought?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"Pop Up Architecture in London - Folly for a Flyover\" src=\"http:\/\/static.dezeen.com\/uploads\/2011\/07\/dezeen_Folly-for-a-Flyover-by-Assemble_13.jpg\" alt=\"Pop Up Architecture in London - Folly for a Flyover\" width=\"468\" height=\"468\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This one is a little smaller. Believe it or not, it was a theatre for up to six people built during the Clerkenwell Design Week last year.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"Pop Up Architecture in London - Tiny Travelling Theatre\" src=\"http:\/\/static.dezeen.com\/uploads\/2012\/05\/dezeen_Tiny-Travelling-Theatre-by-Aberrant-Architecture_2.jpg\" alt=\"Pop Up Architecture in London - Tiny Travelling Theatre\" width=\"468\" height=\"357\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Another tiny venue, designed by Cristina Monteiro serves as a folk venue and whisky bar. The Shed is latest pop up building that I have seen. It is meant to serve as a foyer next to the National Theatre in South Bank.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"Pop Up Architecture in London - The Shed\" src=\"http:\/\/static.dezeen.com\/uploads\/2013\/04\/Dezeen_SHED-at-the-National-Theatre-by-Haworth-Tompkins_6.jpg\" alt=\"Pop Up Architecture in London - The Shed\" width=\"303\" height=\"261\" \/>\u00a0\u00a0<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"Pop Up Architecture in London - The Shed 2\" src=\"http:\/\/static.dezeen.com\/uploads\/2013\/04\/Dezeen_SHED-at-the-National-Theatre-by-Haworth-Tompkins_14.jpg\" alt=\"Pop Up Architecture in London - The Shed 2\" width=\"288\" height=\"261\" \/><\/p>\n<p>According to its architects, it is meant to explore ways in which public buildings can modify our perceptions. It sure does! The National Theatre is exploring <a title=\"Pop Up Architecture in London - The Shed\" href=\"http:\/\/theshed.nationaltheatre.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">new ways to make theatre<\/a>. I am curious as to how they are going to do it. It&#8217;ll surely be interesting.<\/p>\n<p>Pop up architecture can be a little ugly at times. Boxpark is the first pop up mall in London. They also have live music on top of the building and has a terrace.
