I believe that attending Asian celebrations are some of the most interesting things to do in London. They tend to be the most colourful and cheerful too. The Chinese New Year in February or Mela in September are just some examples.

"Things

As autumn made another appearance last Sunday, I decided to take a stroll and check Diwali in Trafalgar Square. Diwali, in its shorter form, or Deepavali (`row of lights´) is the festival of lights. It symbolises the victory of good over evil. It is also one of the most important festivals in India. "Things

The square was crowded. The fact that there were so many sponsors stalls didn´t overshadow the simplicity of having loads of people from everywhere in the world enjoying the live music on stage and the foodstalls on the side. The group was singing what seemed to be a popular song as people danced happily in the centre of the square. No complicated dances nor Bollywood on display.

"Things

I was taken by the happy picture of those people who seemed to have forgotten their worries for a little while. I just wished I could understand the lyrics!

It was a great end to a very hectic week. Were you there? Have you ever seen the celebrations in India?
