Crisis in London? Need any Tips?
I guess this is a trending topic on the internet at the moment, and it is no wonder why! Everyone says that this is going to be a tough year in economic terms. While I am crossing my fingers and working to avoid last year´s hard situation, I would also like to share here what I learnt in case it is useful to anyone.
Crisis in London? What crisis? Here are my tips to help you carry on.
- Keep calm and carry on.
Well, that´s easy to say, isn´t it? Hard to believe as may sound, there certainly is light at the end of the tunnel. Thinking too much about a problem would only land me in a bigger hole. What about some reiki? - Keep informed.
Out of work or whatever, but not out of life. Key thing here is building a knowledge of the big picture. It is even more important now to know what´s going on in your work area, as well as in the rest of the world. What about attending networking events? - Sit down and do some thinking.
What is it that has landed you in this situation? What are your priorities? What would you like to do now? A piece of paper and a pen is all you need to put your thoughts in perspective. Surely coffee and cake in a nice place help too! - Keep yourself organised.
After you know what you want, it is time to see how you are going to do it. While out of work, I used to be much busier than in any of my jobs! Job hunting, reading, freelancing, some volunteering, etc…
- At the supermarket…
Try out the cheaper range, the non-branded products or white brand. They can provide good value for money too.
I would also encourage you to try the 99p Stores or Poundland. For those abroad, these shops sell mostly branded products for 99p, so you can get stuff that can cost at least double that. - Get about town.
London is a very expensive city. But, there are a few unexpensive things to do, like street performances, lunch time gigs, pub gigs.
- Get s0me exercise!
Just a bit of a walk to anywhere will do wonders to your mood, let alone your body. - Try and have a laugh!
Comedy, anyone? Some of these performances are for free. Otherwise, comedy programmes on TV can be equally good at times.
Do you have any tips to share? I´m sure they would be really useful.
