The Most Romantic Songs for St. Valentine´s Day
St. Valentine´s Day is upon us again. Businesses have been reminding us for some time
now. I have seen lovely-looking chocolates in the supermarket, adverts for a night-in dinner for two for 20 quid at Marks and Sparks, anti-Valentine´s parties at London venues, etc. I would like to discuss and sharehere the most romantic songs for St Valentine´s Day.
Do you think romantic songs are cheesy? Many people seem to dislike this type of songs. This is specially so with men. The same goes for artists like Michael Bublé. His classic, clean-cut appearance seems to clash with the appearance and music of the most other mainstream artists – and yet he´s got millions of fans around the world.
Lyrics might not exactly be as `classic´as you might expect. There has been some kind of evolution. Saying `I love you´ does not seem to be enough. Now, it´s more like, `I am going to enjoy the moment and then we´ll see´ (see Mumford and Sons´ song below).
I came across a compilation of the top 100 `indie´rock love songs on my favourite radio station, and thought I would share some of them with you. As follows, in no particular order:
- The Bones of You – Elbow.
- Winter Winds – Mumford and Sons.
- Chasing Cars – Snow Patrol.
- You Shook Me All Night – AC/DC.
- You´re Gorgeous – Babybird (video for Unloveable directed by Johnny Depp).
- Fix You – Coldplay.
- Everlong – Foo Fighters.
- Resistance – Muse.
- Tonight, Tonight – Smashing Pumpkins.
What are your favourite ones? I wish you all a lovely Valentine´s Day all year long. 🙂
Thanks a lot for posting these “indie” love songs! I do love the ones I know from your selection and I’ll make sure I’ll look for the other ones, cos I bet they’re really good (and not cheesy).
Love xx
Hi! Thanks for checking in. Which ones would you add to the list?
