Picture Wednesday – Amy Winehouse in Camden
So, Amy Winehouse got a statue in Camden. Apparently, the authorities only allow this after 25 years, so it must’ve taken a great deal of convincing before it actually happened.
Show biz is a bit of a circus, and I couldn’t help cringing when I saw the picture of her emotional dad holding the statue above. No sign of the mother. Still, her music was quite good. Shame all those drugs…
Thanks for checking!

From the pictures I’ve seen both her parents were there. Yes shame about the drugs but in the end it was the alcohol that killed her. I’m in two minds about this statue, I think she should be commemorated but it is too soon.
Really? I haven’t seen a picture with both of them in relation to this statue. I think there are others that deserve this, plus I am not sure the market is the best place. It llooks out of place there, as if du.ped or something. What do you think?
http://www.camdenmarket.com/art/amy-gallery-find-picture-amystatue/ check that link, it has a galley and shows that both parents were there for the opening. I don’t think the market is the best place either, it was supposed to be on top of Camden round house but then that changed. If not market however I don’t have another suggestion as to where it should go.
On top of The Roundhouse is an interesting place for a statue too. I don’t have any suggestions either. Does anyone have any suggestions?
